New joint from Reflection Eternal that I'm not sure how I feel about it. Joint is aiight, but thought they would come back with something a little stronger. Maybe it will grow on me.

This album is perfection. I don't say that about too many albums and this one truly stands in a class by itself. It is the hip hop embodiment of peace and tranquility. This album is so good it trancends the boundaries of hip hop and pushes the boundaries of music. It's food for the mind and soul. You can tell it was a labor of love and that Talib Kweli and Hi Tek did it strictly for the love of the music and could have cared less about the money and bling bling. The way real hip hop artists should be.

It shows through in the quality of this music. Lyrically, Talib is a master and he's truly a giant in the mental. Hi Tek's beats are nothing short of beautiful, check out "Good Morning" and "The Blast". He weaves and blends the samples and beats so intricately that it's fluid. It flows together in a perfect symphony of harmony. This album came out at the start of the commercial bling bling era which has now completely taken over hip hop. Reflection Eternal was like a breath of fresh air in a polluted hip hop culture.

It will stand the test of time because even now, eight years later I will still listen to it. Now doubt 20 or 30 years from now it will be considered a masterpiece even though I already consider it such. Put simply, this album must be heard in full to really appreciate. It is one of those rare albums that only come once in 20 or 30 years. Probably longer. If you love conscious hip hop or just real hip hop, I beg of you to listen to this album. I promise you won't be dissappointed. Peace.

If the RZA had not come up with his new theories on the postmodern than this would be unquestionably the best hip hop album of all time. Don't get me wrong - it may be the best ever. But it also might not be. Feel me?
I have cried listening to "Respiration" and "Thieves in the Night." If there has ever been a greater expression of the urban experience, well... I must have missed it. And I haven't missed much in hip hop. Trust me, if you don't own this album, you are missing out on something special. This is not just one of the greatest albums to emerge from hip hop's (semi) underground. This isn't just one of the greatest albums in hip hop history. This is one of the greatest albums to be produced - by any artist in any genre - in the past thirty years. This is, to our culture, what Foucault was to the original wave of postmodern thinking... in other words, the expression of our selves in this evolving musical landscape would not be complete without this group or these words or the ideas that are expressed.
If all you see it crime in the city when you listen to hip hop, you need to breath this in and let your narrative grow to help explain this existence that we are all participating in.
